Guide to all things locks: Rekey, Reset and Pair
How to Rekey a Lock:
Streamline move in + move outs by utilizing our rekey function.

Rekey Function
Rekey Function Breakdown
Key Steps
- Log Into Manager App
- Log into Grata Manager App.
- Ensure you are standing next to the lock you wish to rekey.
- Locate Unit in App
- Navigate to Units tab in App.
- Search for unit under paired units.
- Select unit.
- Begin Rekey
- Once on the page of the desired lock press the Rekey icon.
- Click yes to confirm.
- Remain beside the lock and wait until the success message appears.
- Successful Rekey
- When the success message appears the lock has been rekeyed properly.
- Any users residing in that unit will be emailed their new user pin.
Cautionary Notes
- Master pin will remain the same. If you need to change master pin you will have to factory reset lock and repair in the Grata app.
- a rekey must be done after every move out to ensure all previous user access codes no longer work on the lock.
How to Factory Reset a Lock:
To be used when lock is behaving abnormally, not pairing correctly or rekey function has not been successful.

Alfred DB1/DB2/ML2 Lock
Factory Reset Breakdown
Key Steps
- Remove Battery Cover
- Ensure the lock is in an unlocked position.
- Remove the cover from the back of the lock.
- Find a pin or paper clip to use for reset.
- Place Pin in reset button
- The hole is located in the section below the batteries.
- Place pin in hole and continue holding for the duration of following steps.
- Remove a Battery
- Ensure the pin is still in the reset hole.
- Pop out one of the batteries for approximately 2 seconds.
- Place battery back in its spot while still keeping pin in reset hole.
- Wait for Success Message
- When the success message is spoken the lock has been reset properly.
- You can now remove the pin.
Cautionary Notes
- Error can occur if the pin does not remain in reset hole.
- Lock must be in unlocked position.
- Once a lock has been reset it will now need to be repaired to a unit.
How to Pair Locks:
Pairing a lock will bridge the connection between hardware (lock) and software (Grata). This will allow residents and users to connect to their door lock.

Alfred DB2/ML2 Lock
Pairing Breakdown
Key Steps
- Log Into Manager App
- Log into Grata Manager App.
- Ensure you are standing next to the lock you wish to pair.
- Ensure lock is in unlocked position.
- Locate Unit in App
- Navigate to Units tab in App.
- Search for unit under unpaired units.
- Select unit.
- Set Up New Lock
- Click set up new lock.
- Click continue to confirm.
- Ensure lock is awake by pressing on key pad and waiting for keys to light up.
- Looking for Devices
- For lock type Alfred DB2 & ML2
- Device ID will be found by typing *115# on the lock keypad.
- This will announce the last few digits of the lock ID.
- For lock type Alfred DB1
- Device ID will be found on the inside of the battery cover.
- Match the Device ID with one of the options on the app.
- Select corresponding device ID.
- Wait for Pairing to be Completed
- Screen should say "Pairing"
- Screen should say "Assigning Pins"
- When the success message appears the lock has been repaired properly.
- Click done.
- The app will take you to the lock information page.
- You can test the success by attempting to lock/unlock unit door using the app.
Cautionary Notes
- If the pairing process fails the lock will need to be factory reset before trying again.
- Ensure you are pairing correct lock/door to corresponding unit on app in order to avoid the wrong unit and lock being paired together.
